Sorry, it’s too late…
Reaching the subway platform as the doors are closing…
Being number one on the waiting list to purchase the newest game console…
Being stuck in a traffic jam and reaching the airport when the gate has just been closed…
There is nothing worse than the frustration to know that we were just about… but it did not work.
Just like these irritating situations, many students end up each year in September with a strong desire to start their studies in France and run into a harsh mantra: “sorry, it is too late”.
A project that falls apart, a degree which is awarded with delay, a context which changes suddenly… Many reasons can explain the late preparation of a study project – and this, even more within an uncertain health context.
There is nothing more frustrating, especially when it comes to preparing one’s future, than being abruptly stopped while one has come so far.
The good news within this situation is that, since several years, many French schools offer study pathways named “delayed intakes” (rentrées décalées) or “February intakes” (rentrées de février). At FIGS Education, early 2022, there will be no less than 44 pathways available to students throughout France. Contrary to common beliefs, the so-called delayed intakes are not leading to cheap programmes, truncated from major skills and competences. Neither they address only an international audience. Other students, French, are sometimes disappointed by their choice of studies and seize these February intakes to move to another topic, another field or another study format and this, without losing any time.
The principle behind these late start programmes is to offer the whole of knowledge and skills forming the curriculum on a shorter time period and this way, on a more intensive setting. This means, among other things, a heavier weekly schedule.
Another point of this possibility it that it has been designed so that students can pursue their studies on a traditional academic calendar i.e. with an intake in September.
The intensive format of the “February” intakes is fully compatible with the continuation of programmes, both on content and calendar.
For more information on the possibilities of intake offered by FIGS Education schools, you will find a dedicated section on FIGS website.
And next time someone will tell you “sorry, it is too late”, you can tell him that he is not that well informed!
